I stumbled onto Jeffrey Martin tonight and just had to stop everything I was doing and listen to a few albums straight through. Great way to end the week.

I love the illustrations Owen Davey created for his book Mad About Monkeys.

chris-stapleton

Getting this cloudy Fall Friday started off with a little Chris Stapleton. I love a good cover, and Chris does a great job with “Last Thing I Needed, First Thing This Morning”, a song made famous by Willie Nelson.

I like this one:

Enthusiasm is my superpower. One might say that confidence yields the same results. I disagree. Confidence is about yourself, enthusiasm is about something else. Confidence is impressive, but enthusiasm is infectious. Confidence is serious, enthusiasm is fun.

oris-chronoris-date

I’m in love with the Oris ChronOris Date. It’s strikes the perfect balance between subtlety and uniqueness. I also find it refreshing that it has a 39mm case, and is 43mm lug to lug. Here’s a video overview from Worn and Wound.

I’ll probably never own an Oris due to the price, so I was excited to see Seiko release the SRPB13, which has a similar aesthetic. Unfortunately, Seiko made it 44mm wide, which is too big for my taste.

seiko-mod

This mod of a Seiko SNK turned out amazing! It uses the dial of a SKX, and hands from Dagaz. It’s perfect if you want a diver look without the bulk.

Mapbox has an interesting idea that helps people decide where to go based on direction/time, not literal geography. The map directions are only displayed once a destination is selected.

engine

I love The Engine, a site recently launched by MIT. The attention to detail is perfect; it’s easy to explore, yet not boring. It also looks fantastic on all devices. Illustration and animation by Vasjen Katro.

zenith-defy-lab

Zenith has introduced the new Defy Lab watch, which they say is the most accurate mechanical watch ever made. It runs at a frequency five-times greater than a standard mechanical watch and has a 60-hour power reserve. I’m also loving the material it’s made from, which is called aeronith. It’s an ultra-light aluminum composite that looks a bit like concrete. The price? Just $31,000 if you want one of the first 10. See a video overview from aBlogtoWatch.
